FAQs
How much does it cost to hire a painter and decorator in SW London?
1
Costs vary depending on the size of the property, how much preparation or repair work is needed and the finish you choose. Painting and decorating in London can range from a few hundred pounds for a single room refresh to several thousand for a full house repaint or exterior project. The best way to get an accurate figure for your specific job is a free, no-obligation quote, which takes the exact scope of work into account.
It depends on the size and condition of the property. A single room with minimal preparation might take two to three days, while a full house repaint, an exterior project, or a job involving repairs such as wood rot, damp or cracked plaster can take one to several weeks. We'll give you a clear time estimate as part of your quote, based on what we find.
How long does a typical job take?
2
It's worth getting in touch as early as possible, especially for larger jobs or if you have a specific date in mind, since availability fills up. That said, get in touch even at short notice. We'll always try to fit your project in or recommend the right timeframe.
How far in advance should I book?

Are you insured and qualified?
Do you work on period and Victorian or Edwardian properties?
5
Yes, a large part of our work is on the Victorian, Edwardian and other period properties that make up much of SW London's housing stock. We're experienced with the issues these properties bring, such as original lath and plaster walls, sash windows, lime-based renders and decorative woodwork. We treat these differently to a modern new build.
Can you repair damp, mould, cracks or wood rot before painting?
6
Yes, this is a regular part of our work. We treat damp staining and mould, repair cracked plaster and replace rotten timber on windows, doors and other woodwork before any painting starts. Skipping this preparation is the main reason paintwork fails early, so we always treat the underlying problem first.
We're not tied to a single brand. Depending on the job and your preference, we regularly work with Farrow & Ball, Little Greene, Dulux and Dulux Trade, along with specialist products like Zinsser and Toupret fillers and sealers for repair work. If you already have a colour or brand in mind, we're happy to work with it.

Which paint brands do you use?
We'll talk you through what's needed for your specific job during the quote. For most rooms we ask that smaller items and valuables are cleared, while we handle dust sheets and protection for furniture and flooring that has to stay in place.
Will I need to move my furniture or empty the room?
8
Yes, we offer free, no-obligation quotes for all projects, residential and commercial. Get in touch with some details about your project and we'll arrange a time to take a look.
9
Do you offer free quotes?
Yes. Alongside residential decorating, we carry out commercial renovations and office refurbishments, working around your business hours where needed to keep disruption to a minimum.
Do you work on commercial properties as well as homes?
10
Your job will be carried out by Jamie and his small, trusted team, the same people named throughout our reviews. We don't subcontract out to unknown tradespeople, so you'll know exactly who's working in your home or business throughout the project.
Who will actually be doing the work?
11
We cover Battersea, Clapham, Wandsworth, Putney, Balham and Fulham, plus the wider SW and Central London area, as well as Surrey and Kent.
